Cinco de Mayo Adventure day 3
with Lynn and Bill from Tulsa at Casa Cenote.......
Remember that all pictures are links to their larger self and that they open in a new window so close them after your done.

Today is an other day of continued adjustment to the daily slow pace of Mexico. We are to meet Pamela de la Playa y 'berto for Bar-B-Q today.

My morning starts out a typical Bill day with early rise and viewing the sunrise over the point at Tankah bay. I take a ritual walk down the beach to see what has happened since the day before. I was hoping to see a sign of an Early Turtle nesting but was not to be this morning. Last year when I took this walk I was shocked by the Fact that Someone had robbed the nest before I arrived. Since this is a huge problem here on Tankah the Nest are "Not Marked as they are in Akumal" so as to discourage Nest robbing.

This morning I am just hanging out waiting for the guys to arrive to make and serve the coffee when the Federalies come marching along the beach. They are on constant patrol along this area in search of drugs that have washed up on the beach. It can be very intimidating for a new person to see as they are all carrying machine guns. But not to fear they are very nice guys. They stopped and asked if I spoke Spanish and I told the very little. But I was able to understand that they wanted a couple of Cokes. So I went to the restaurant and found that all the cocas were hot so I had to return a very disappointing no Coca Frios, lo siento much. Senor, Camarones o Chiveche (sp)? No, no Camarones o Chiveche (sp). Hasta la vista Amigos.

In a short time Peggy and the guys are at the restaurant making coffee and doing the daily side work that is required to keep a restaurant going all day. Wow when you sit around relaxing watching what goes into a daily preparation to feed all the hungry and Thirsty people that are staying and visiting Casa Cenote each day it is truly amazing the volume of goods that it takes. The orange juice is fresh squeezed for breakfast while I watch on. Then the limes are squeezed for Limonada and Cheladas (this is the two fingers of lime juice, ice and a beer of your choice). The chelada has become very popular especially with the women as it seems to be very refreshing and really tastes like a lime aid with out the sugar with a little beer after taste. To me it is a shame to ruin a good Dos Equis but I always say to each their own.

They chop tomatoes, onions and chilies and on and on until I get tired and have to take a nap... LOL.. just kidding. But the restaurant work is really time consuming and hard work. I really have to give them all credit for what their job includes for me to have a great day. Today's prep is even more intense as it is Bar-B-Q day and that requires some special attention.

I have been drinking coffee at the Bar and here comes Lynn carrying here coffee pot back to the Restaurant. She is ready for Breakfast. The guys are ready to take our order and we have our usual as we don't have much imagination when it comes to our Breakfast. We know what we like and it is so good and really hard to do at home so we relish in being able to have this meal of fruit, alvacados, tomatoes, bacon and tortillas. In spanish it is:  Plato de Fruta, Aguates, Tomates, Tocino y Tortillas. Oh and the Orange Juice that is so very sweet and refreshing. Now for that Bloody Mary, Yum I do like the way Peggy mixes those morning Bloody Mary with a stalk of celery..... Now this is living! Breakfast is fantastic and full of energy.

Lynn is off to the room to do some getting ready for the labor intensive day of relaxing and slowing down to a state of Mexican time. I am off to play in the Caribe a bit and just take in the sites and sounds of the area. I watch the some people that have arrived to just swim in the Cenote and take a swim in the Caribe. This is a very popular place.

I visit with some visitors that I have promptly forgotten their names.

This guy owns the house just north of Casa Cenote with the Big Blue Dome on top. But like some others that I have visited with I again have forgotten his name but he has built this big house here and retired down here. He insists that I must just buy one of the lots for sale up at the point. Hummm, after checking on them we found out that they go for around $75K to $150k for some what small lots. Well I am not ready to do that so I will digest the input for another time.

June and Arturo of the Wild Kingdom de Cancun bring in their line of Swim wear that they sell here on every Sunday. The Women and
Girls that look at these Swim Suits usually get their husbands and boy friends to buy them one or two of these very wonderful items. June is also into Yoga, Reiki, Shaman journeys and several other interesting lifestyle ideas. She and Arturo conduct classes at Maya Tulum down on the beach south of Ruinas Tulum. Very interesting people. They have a house and a couple of palapas that they rent just up the road from Casa Cenote. Visit their web site at:    Click here for Tankah Villa.
Oh and by the way they are considering listing the property as a Clothing Optional Property. There will be more on this on my board at a later date when I learn more towards the middle of June... not pun intended.... LOL

Well the Bar-B-Q has begun and it looks really good. We have been have an occasional cocktail of Cranberry Margaritas chased with Dos Equis. We are trying to wait on Pam and 'berto to eat but I am not sure I can do this. After all Bar-B-Q is an all day affair, this is Mexico and I know that 'berto and Pam are on Mexican time so there is no telling when they will arrive. My stomach is on Tulsa time still and I am starving so My brain thinks.

Today is the celebration of Burnie's birthday. Oh yes I will introduce Burnie, he is a dear friend of Peggy one of the Owners of Casa Cenote. They have put together a wonderful birthday party for him.

Burnie and Peggy

?Que pasa Hombre?

Hey, I forgot to mention there is even live music today in Burnie's honor. Check out the dude in the upper right corner

For those that have not been, this gives an idea about what to expect at the Casa Cenote Sunday Bar-B-Q, but remember that it is not always Ribs....... Yummmy for sure.

Well I cannot wait for Pam and 'berto any longer... I jump up and fill my plate and start to chow down and it is not long until Pam and 'berto show up about 3:pm. So I have an excuse to over do the Bar-B-Que this day with the fine company of our friends.

The guys sing happy birthday to Burnie and all have a fun time.

The fun and Fiesta continue on and on

Burnie is in Heaven for sure.... LOL

Pamela de la Playa y 'berto ask if we would like to come visit their place at Casa Corazon in the next Tankah bay north tomorrow night and then dinner at Oscar y Lalo's and we agree to drop by in the evening. Hasta la bye bye Amigos.

Sandy and Brian show up about 5:pm. They are a fun couple, really nice. It is good to visit with them with no one else around.

Sara and Joe show up a little later and we have a wonderful time talking about past, present and future.

It is time for the first shift to go home. On Sunday Bar-B-Q day the shift is as long as the restaurant is busy and needs both shifts.
We choose this time to pass out all the gifts that we have brought for them and their families. Tee shirts for the guys, perfume for the wives, and toys or other fun things for the kids. They are thrilled with all the goodies and we tell them that we really appreciate all that the do for us while we are there. Later Peggy came over to say that they had expressed to her their joy with all the gifts on the way home. This really pleased us as we had spent lots of fun time deciding and gathering to goodies.

Now this is a rare and wonderful photo for me as Lynn and I are not in very many photos together. Sara has insisted on this photo and I will be grateful to her for a very long time. Thanks Sweet Sara.

Mas Tequila Por Favor Rubin..... Sorry Senor Bill but you don't need anymore Tequila Amigo..... LOL he really didn't say that but I am sure he was thinking it. The lovely day has come to the end and we will say good night to all our friends and retire to our Casitas #2. Tomorrow Lynn starts the finish to her dive certification that was so rudely interrupted by a Broken Heel........
