Once a journey is designed, equipped, and put in process, a new factor enters and takes over. A trip, a safari, an exploration, is an entitiy different from all other journeys. It has personality, temperament, individuality, uniqueness. A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike. And all plans, policing, safeguards, and coercion are fruitless. We find after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us. Tour masters, schedules, reservations, brass bound and inevitable, dash themselves to wreckage on the personality of the trip. Only when this is recognized can the blown-in-the glass bum relax and go along with it. Only then do the frustrations fall away. In this a journey is like marriage. The certain way to be wrong is to think you control it. I feel better now, having said this, although only those who have experienced it will understand. from TRAVELS WITH CHARLIE by John Steinbeck

I guess that is why I like trips and travelling. Pursuit of the unkown, a bit of adventure and a constant change of scenery and routine. Hope you are having a good trip. The weather up here in the midwest is about the worst I've ever seen it. Enjoy the warmth!

Ann

Thanks, Ann. We are definitely enjoying ourselves. Today we drove down the Pacific coast from Lo de Marcos to Puerto Vallarta, checking out various campground along the way for future trips. Tonight we are in Puerto Vallarta just a few blocks from the cruise ship port. A year ago we were on one of those ships stopped in that port on our way to and through the Panama Canal.

It's not long now before we start the trek back north. We are not looking forward to the cold weather, but it's time to get back to the grandchildren Smile
