I just flew a person back from Cancun on the 9th. of November who wanted to see her new granddaughter born during Wilma. Cancun terminal 2 is up and running as usual. Restaurants and shops are also open. |

Nope, I was just there and Cancun airport is OPEN. Cancun looks great, it is incredible how quickly they have put things back together. Some of the hotels on the strip still have windows out, etc, but for the most part the city is up and running. There is a big hand painted sign at the entrance to the hotel strip that says "Cancun esta de pie!" (Cancun is on it's feet!) |

We too, were there Friday and it looked pretty normal, just not as many people. Like Suzanne said, the restaurants and most stores were open, the air conditioning was even working! |

I flew out Monday and they canceled and rerouted me but I got out. the airport is working but the true is the airlines are bankrupt and don't want to fly with planes that aren't full. With the Cancun Hotel district still in trouble the numbers are low. We can help by pressuring the airlines to help. They are really hurting the people in the Maya Riviera who are ready for tourists. Write letters if you feel so inclined, |
